Soap Carving
There is a huge selection of moulds available for any soap maker to choose from. Many a time a soap maker would like to make something that is original. I would not consider myself artistic but sure do try my hand at anything. I was recently asked to make a soap of a belly dancer, the first few attempts were awful to say the least. But I found carving on soap really great because I can rub off mistakes.
I will continue with the belly dancer today and show you step by step how it can be done as I go along.
See you!!!

Soap making…a form of art
What I like about the hobby of soap making….it is an art, better still you can become creative with smells, textures and label designs.

Idea
Surprise Mom this Mother’s day…make a bar of Garden soap (especially if she loves to work in the garden)…

Make your own Egyptian Soap
Melt 140 grams white opaque glycerine soap. Add milk & honey fragrance. Sprinkle crushed bran into soap. mix. Pour into mould. Allow to cool approx 2-3 hours.
All ingredients and mould available from Fun with soap - 011 393 1676 or 084 561 4980
Make your own coloured, fragranced Bath Salts
You will need 1 kg Bath salts – course / refined. (available from Fun with Soap) -R3.00
The drier the salt the better. If the salt is a bit to wet and you give the salts away as a gift the salts sometimes…sink as moisture evaporates from the salt.
Bath Salt Colouring – available in sachets – R5.00 per colour.
Fragrance
Simply add a tiny tiny amount of colouring to the salt, add a approx 8 drops fragrance and mix well.
Store in an attractive bottle, cellophane bag, or organza bags.
Really easy to make and not an expensive product to make.
